The idea is simple, bring friends and local people together to enjoy tea, cake and tasty treats and raise money for people affected by disaster.

Host your event under a shelter, gather your community and celebrate Rotary’s remarkable ongoing partnership with ShelterBox.

For twenty-five years, ShelterBox has been providing disaster relief to people all round the word. Please join me in celebrating this significant milestone by holding a Tea in a Tent event.

Get started

Hosting a Tea in a Tent event is simple. You’ll find a guide and other downloadable resources on this page that will help you hold a successful event, whether it’s in a garden, a local park or by the sea.

Once you’ve put a date in the diary, start inviting family, friends and your local community to your event using our posters. You can also request materials like posters and leaflets using the form below.

Collecting donations and Gift Aid will be made easier by setting up a Just Giving fundraising page as your Rotary club. You can then receive donations using a QR code, as well as any cash gifts that people wish to make.

We look forward to seeing photos of Tea in a Tent events being held across the UK and Ireland – under gazebos, beneath canopies and in marquees.

How your fundraising can help:

Every pound you raise soon adds up, helping people affected by disaster receive what they need. From tents, tarpaulins and tools to solar lights, mosquito nets, water filters and water carriers.

Some examples of what your event donations could provide.

£50 could pay for a Shelter Kit to enable families to construct a make-shift shelter.

£130 could provide a comprehensive toolkit for a whole community.

£405 could pay for a family-sized tent to help shelter people in a crisis.
