Our volunteers

Every ShelterBox volunteer is instrumental in providing shelter to families after disaster, wherever they are in the world.

We are proud and grateful to have such a talented, passionate and committed group of people as our volunteers. They generously give us their skills, knowledge and time and are vital members of the ShelterBox family.

Are you interested in joining our team of ShelterBox volunteers? Take a look at our current opportunities below.

This is the best part of my role. For the people I’m talking to, I can start to put names and faces to individuals affected by disasters and conflicts, the human stories behind the headlines, and you see them start to make a connection with Aleu in Türkiye or Maria in the Minawao Camp in Cameroon.  It becomes personal and they want to know more, do more.  It’s a privilege to witness that process.

ShelterBox response team members assess the needs of thousands of people who were displaced by floods in Asuncion, Paraguay. ShelterBox, a Rotary partner, uses highly trained response teams to provide emergency shelter and aid to people affected by disasters. Team members will deliver essential supplies, including mosquito nets, blankets, solar lights, and ShelterKits. In coordination with Habitat for Humanity, the Paraguayan Red Cross, and local Rotary club members, ShelterBox team members will distribute kits and provide training for displaced residents.

Why volunteer with ShelterBox?

Our volunteers support our work towards a future where no one is without shelter after disaster.

Some volunteers help raise awareness of our work through talks and at events. Volunteers can help support fundraising campaigns and support fundraising events. Some of our volunteers also travel to the places where we are working to support our teams and partners on the ground.

We also want our volunteers to feel rewarded for supporting us! Our volunteers will get to meet like-minded people. We also give training and support, and valuable work experience. With volunteering you can have flexible experience, choosing a role to suit you. And we’ll check to make sure you’re satisfied, and see what more we can do to enhance the experience.

How do I become a ShelterBox volunteer and what does it involve?

Our volunteers are vital members of the ShelterBox family. They generously share their time, skills and knowledge across a wide range of roles and activities.

Most roles focus on telling the story of ShelterBox. This might be by public speaking, using social media, fundraising or attending community events.

We also have a few volunteers that help us behind the scenes in our office. This is mostly for the community fundraising or supporter care teams.  For all these roles there is a role description and an application form.
