Artist and celebrity supporters
Have a look at the artists that have supported our vision of ensuring that no family is left without shelter when disaster strikes.
The Queen is our patron. The Queen was first introduced to ShelterBox in 2006 whilst on an official visit to Pakistan as the former Duchess of Cornwall.
Together with His Majesty The King as the Former Prince of Wales, they learnt about our work supporting communities who had lost their homes in the Kashmiri earthquake. At the time they were the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, and they saw ShelterBox responders taking ShelterBoxes to remote areas of Pakistan.
The Queen has been a keen supporter of our work ever since. More than anything, she appreciates the tangible impact we have. We have been proud to welcome her on a number of occasions to meet the team and to learn more about our work. And we are very grateful that she continues to be our patron as Queen.
The Queen was President of ShelterBox from August 2007 to May 2021, changing to Patron from May 2021.
ShelterBox was honoured to have received two invitations to the prestigious humanitarian receptions at Buckingham Palace in 2023 and 2025.
We were proud to be prominently featured at both events for our work in providing emergency shelter.
Her Majesty has been welcomed to ShelterBox’s headquarters several times, including in 2017 when she cut a cake to mark her 70th birthday.
As part of the celebrations staff and volunteers gathered to sing happy birthday, and to present her with a cake in the shape of a green ShelterBox and contents including a teddy, a solar light, and tools that help families repair or replace homes damaged after disaster.
The Queen surprised everyone by making an impromptu speech before departing. She said, “that’s the first time I’ve cut a cake with a saw! But it doesn’t surprise me. ShelterBox are always coming up with something new.”
I just wanted to say how wonderful all of you are who work for ShelterBox.
Her Majesty’s well-known love of reading has also seen her supporting ShelterBox Book Club, writing a forward for Tamesis Street, a short story told by 30 authors about a fictional climate disaster in London.
