Burkina Faso conflict
We’re working with our partner HELP to support vulnerable communities affected by conflict in Burkina Faso.
We are responding in Burkina Faso to support people who have had to flee their homes due to extremist violence.
This is currently the fastest growing humanitarian crisis in the world. We have been working in the country since 2020.
Burkina Faso is a landlocked country in western Africa. On its northern and western borders is Mali. Niger borders the country in the north east, and Benin in the south east. Along the southern border are Togo, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire.
The country has a mainly tropical climate. There is one rainy season a year. In the north of the country is the Sahel region that experiences extremes in weather. As well as violence, the country can experience food insecurity due to drought, flooding and problems with pests. It is thought that the climate crisis is likely to make these extremes in weather and temperature more severe.
