1 in every 4 people in Burkina Faso require humanitarian assistance. ShelterBox has been working in Burkina Faso, with our partner HELP, since 2020.

Looking forward with hope

The people we have supported in Burkina Faso have suffered the loss of their homes. But despite this when speaking to them, many still have hope for a better future. They describe the impact that the shelter assistance provided has had on their lives. Here are some of their inspiring words.

Since I got the tent, my husband now sleeps at home with me. The tent has brought more joy into my home.

This has brought a great deal of joy to the family. You can see the joy on the faces of the women and children. The help has made my life a lot easier.

We’re very happy, especially as we didn’t have the means to build houses.

The support from Help and ShelterBox has significantly improved the health conditions of my family. The tent saved me from renting a house and the kitchen utensils allowed me to live in good hygienic conditions. Which has significantly reduced my children’s illnesses like bronchitis and diarrhoea.

Burkina Faso update

Burkina Faso has been named the world’s most neglected displacement crisis.

1 in every 4 people require humanitarian assistance. Since 2020, there has been an escalation in conflict with Jihadist groups. This has contributed to mass displacement.

We’re working with a local partner, HELP, in Burkina Faso to provide shelter and household items.

Together, we’ve been able to support some of the most vulnerable communities. Our current project focuses on providing emergency shelter to protect families from flooding.
