Family of three in the Philippines

This Christmas is going to look very different from any other.

For families in some of the poorest parts of the world, it’s going to be unimaginable. Disasters, conflict and the deadly threat of coronavirus are only some of the challenges they will be forced to face.

This Christmas, you can make a difference in the lives of families who have lost their homes. If you’re wondering how to give back to charity this Christmas, we have 5 ideas for you to take on and help vulnerable communities around the world…

1. Donate to the ShelterBox Christmas appeal

Right now, we’re in the middle of an incredibly busy time, and our resources are pushed to the limit.

Coronavirus has been a huge challenge that has made us adapt how we work. But we’ve been working around the clock with our global partners to overcome the challenges and reach families who need help the most. We have already supported over 100,000 people this year, but we can’t do more without the help of people like you.

You can make sure families have a home, in the Philippines or wherever the need is greatest. Please give a family the incredible gift of home this Christmas. You can also become a Regular monthly Giver and help families every day of the year.

2. Gift a ShelterBox Book Club membership

This Christmas give a gift that really matters. Sure, a pair of fluffy socks or a new phone sound great, but why not buy a gift that will make a difference to the lives of thousands of families?

You can buy a membership to our award-winning ShelterBox Book Club for as little as £10. Through our unique Book Club, members discover themes, cultures and stories inspired by people and places in the real world – people who have been helped by ShelterBox in an emergency.

3. Join the ShelterBox Christmas Crafting activity

2020 has been a year that’s kept communities and families physically apart, but Christmas is a time that should bring everyone together. Why not get involved with our Christmas charity project to spread creativity and raise funds?

Join our Christmas charity fundraising activity to get together with family, friends or your community to create your own festive decorations! You can donate the money you saved to help give disaster-affected families a home this Christmas. Happy crafting!

4. Follow ShelterBox on social media and share our stories

Did you know we’re on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn?

5. Spread compassion

The one thing we all undeniably need during these uncertain times is compassion.

Whether that’s doing something nice for a stranger, helping an elderly neighbour with their shopping, or donating to provide a home for a family this Christmas, every little thing matters. Thank you for making a difference this Christmas.

Whatever it is you’re choosing to do this Christmas to give back to charity, remember that you’re making a difference. From all of us here at ShelterBox, we wish you a very happy Holiday season.
