THE ULTIMATE CORNISH EVENT
Wendy opens her doors every year to sell hellebores, a beautiful primrose-like flower that she grows herself.
Her home at Bosvigo is surrounded by a well-loved two-acre garden which plays host to the West Country’s foremost collection of these woodland beauties.
It’s the ultimate Cornish event – spectacular flowers that love the county’s gentle climate, scrumptious cream teas, and Cornish pasties. And, of course, it’s not a proper fundraising event unless there is a ShelterBox tent on the front lawn!
It is also a serious and poignant reminder of how disasters can affect us all. Wendy’s daughter Hannah tragically lost her life in the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004 and Hellebore Day has been run every year since, in her honour.
The event is both the start of the spring calendar and a celebration of Hannah. It is a day of joy but also of remembering, which makes it an important event and fundraiser for us at ShelterBox.
Hellebore Day has taken on a life of its own. I know my daughter would have wholeheartedly supported it as I do… I look forward with great pride to welcoming all our loyal supporters again this year.
So far Hellebore Day has raised over £20,000 and with your help, it can raise even more. What’s more, this year’s event will be opened by Chelsea Flower Show judge, Nutty Lim!
