On average, 26 million people are displaced by disasters such as floods and storms every year. That’s one person forced to flee every second
In just 21 years, ShelterBox has provided essential aid and shelter to 2 million people affected by disasters, including those caused by climate change. We need your help to continue providing help and hope to families who have been devasted by the climate crisis.
Will you:

Complete the 21 for 21 challenge?
Complete 21 miles, your way, for 21 years of ShelterBox. Pick however you would like to complete the challenge, be that cycling 21 miles in a day, or running a mile a day for 21 days, the choice is yours!

Host a garden party?
It’s time to safely reunite with friends and family, whether that’s for a socially distanced afternoon tea party, a BBQ or summer cocktails, you can raise vital funds for families affected by disaster across the world.

Camp out for climate change?
Will you test your shelter making skills by spending the night in a pillow fort in the living room, or sleep under the stars in a tent in the garden? Get creative and your adventure could raise enough for a ShelterBox tent for a family left homeless after a disaster.

Host a garden party

Get your friends and family together and safely celebrate the easing of restrictions with an outdoors gathering, all whilst raising money to give people around the world the hope and power to move on after disaster strikes.
Things to consider:
- Who will you invite? This is the perfect excuse to safely reunite with friends and family that you may not have spent much time with in the past year.
- Check your local government guidance on meeting with others, and factor this into your plans.
- What will your event look like? Your sunny soiree could be a BBQ, a meal outside, afternoon tea or just drinks.
- Plan the menu. When you sign up you will receive a recipe pack including delicious meals from around the world in areas where ShelterBox has worked, as well as a collection box and free tote bag!
- How can you maximise donations? If you’re feeling green fingered why not sell some plants, or get baking and ask for donations in return for a homemade dessert.
If you raise just £69, this could provide a family with a Shelter Kit, full of all the tools needed for a family to rebuild their home after it has been destroyed.
Camp out for Climate Change
Spend a night anywhere other than your bed and your sponsorship money will help families rebuild their homes and lives. For an even bigger challenge, why not banish your bed for more than one night?
When you are wrapped up warm in your blankets ready to snooze, remember that every £7 you raise could buy a blanket for a child who has lost everything following a disaster.
What to do:
- Pick your night! Plan whether you will camp with others or on your own.
- Pitch a tent in your garden or be a ShelterMaker and build your own fort to sleep in. Inside or outside, anywhere that is not your comfy bed!
- Set up a JustGiving page to collect donations for your big camp out, and choose a target that works for you. If you aim to raise £375, this could provide a tent big enough to temporarily house a whole family
- Choose your activities! Why not make the whole evening ShelterBox themed? We have a whole host of activities for children, and even recipes to give you a taste of one of the countries where we have worked.
- Receive your free ShelterBox tote bag!
