50 miles for Turkey and Syria
Are you ready to step up for ShelterBox?
Walk 50 miles in 30 days for Türkiye (formerly Turkey) and Syria with us and raise what you can.
Every mile you complete is a mile towards shelter, safety and hope for a family in need. Your support will help people affected by the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria, and other disasters around the world.
Complete your miles however you like over the 30 days, whether you walk, swim, cycle, or rollerblade, the choice is yours.
The Earthquakes in Türkiye (Turkey) and Syria

How much do I need to raise?
We encourage you to try your best to raise as much as possible to support vulnerable families who are in need of shelter after disasters. Raising £100 is completely achievable for a challenge of this kind. Post in the group if you are having trouble getting donations and we will do what we can to help, but please do remember that you are doing a wonderful thing in support of those who are affected by disasters and conflict regardless of how much you raise.
Where will my money go?
The money which you raise through Facebook will be automatically sent to ShelterBox, an international disaster relief charity who work to provide essential aid assistance to people affected by disasters such as conflict, earthquakes, tsunamis, drought, and extreme weather events.
By providing emergency shelter and tools for families robbed of their homes by disaster, we’re transforming despair into hope.
ShelterBox is launching an emergency fundraising appeal to help people affected by the earthquakes and other disasters around the world. Your support will contribute to our Turkey (Türkiye) and Syria Earthquakes response as part of our General Fund. We believe that the best way for us to be impactful is by staying flexible, and it is essential that we have funds available to support those affected by disasters around the world. We are currently operating in Ukraine, Ethiopia, Syria, Yemen, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Mozambique, Pakistan, Somalia and Cameroon, and we are constantly monitoring to see where our emergency shelter may be needed next. We want to see a world where no family is left without shelter after disaster. Find out more about us.
How much money does Facebook deduct from money raised?
100% of the money that you raise will be transferred to ShelterBox, as Facebook charges no fees on charitable donations.
How do I prove I have completed my miles?
We trust you to record your miles however you would like. Some people will use Strava to record their walks, others may track their distance using a fitness watch, or perhaps you already know the distance of your favourite walking route so don’t need to measure it! Feel free to screenshot your miles and add to your feed if you would like to show your supporters what you’ve achieved.
What happens if I don’t complete the 50 miles?
This challenge runs for 30 days from whatever start date you pick. Please feel free to make it your own.. Do what you can, when you can. We believe in you!
Can I run instead?
Yes! Make this challenge your own, however you like. Many people will be walking their miles, but you can customise your own challenge to suit your own personal goals.
Do I have to walk every day of the 30 days?
We are keeping this challenge as flexible as possible, to ensure that it will suit your needs and can be adapted to account for any unexpected obstacles that crop up across the month. You can take on the miles in whichever way suits you. It could be only 5 days where you complete 10 miles each time, or a little under 2 miles every day- the choice is yours!
