MAKING IT HAPPEN
Volunteers are crucial to the work of ShelterBox – without them we would not be able to function. At our Cornwall HQ we have many regular helpers who work in the warehouse, getting equipment ready for the next pack. Others work in the office, help assemble school packs etc.
Normally we manage to pack boxes during office hours but in a major emergency everyone will work around the clock to get boxes packed and on their way to disaster victims.

Spreading the word
We also rely on volunteers – both across the UK and around the world – to promote our work and make others aware of the importance of our mission.
If you enjoy public speaking to community organisations, large or small groups or you are willing to help out at public events then email David Glover, Events/Speaker Coordinator:
If you are particularly interested in schools (maybe you're a retired teacher) then contact Anna Ferrie and join our Schools Project
Working in the field
The ShelterBox Response Teams (SRT's) that play a crucial role in delivering aid in the field are also entirely made up of volunteers.
Most SRT members are from the UK but we are also developing pools of trained volunteers in Australia and the US. Having volunteers in different countries means we may be able to respond even more quickly when we need to get help to a disaster situation.
By talking about their experiences, SRT members also play an active role in promoting ShelterBox to their local community – wherever that is in the world. srttraining@shelterbox.org
Making best use of your money
The high level of support we get from volunteers also enables us to keep our operating costs low and means a very high percentage of income goes directly on the aid itself.
