ShelterBox responded to requests for assistance in these areas after Tropical Storm Fay and hurricanes Gustav, Hanna and Ike hit the islands, causing widespread devastation. According to the team, Grand Turk and Salt Cay islands were the worst affected.
The team reported that ShelterBox was the first aid agency to deliver aid of this type to Salt Cay.The team was assisted by members of the Rotary Club of Provo Island, whose local knowledge proved invaluable.
